Read All Your Email Accounts in One Inbox

Most of us have more than one email address — a work account, an old Gmail, a personal iCloud address, maybe a mailbox at your web host. Jumping between all of them is a chore. With connected accounts, you can add those other mailboxes to TrekMail and handle everything from a single inbox: read new mail, reply, and send, without opening five different apps.

What a connected account does

When you connect an account, TrekMail talks to that provider on your behalf. Your Gmail, Yahoo, or other messages show up in TrekMail alongside your own mail. By default, replies go out through that account and use its own address. Your emails stay where they are — connecting an account doesn't move or delete anything on the original provider. Think of it as a window into your other mailboxes, not a one-way import.

If you'd rather permanently move mail from an old provider into a TrekMail mailbox — copying every message across for good — that's a different tool. See email migration instead. Connecting is for accounts you want to keep using; migration is for accounts you're leaving behind.

When Gmail receives mail for a business address

Some people publish an address such as brian@yourcompany.com but forward its mail into yourname@gmail.com. You can keep that arrangement. Under Settings → Sending addresses, link the approved business address to the connected Gmail inbox. Replies can then show the business address instead of the Gmail address.

The screen keeps the three jobs separate: where mail arrives, what address the recipient sees, and which service sends the reply. Follow Send From a Business Address Using Gmail for a complete example.

Which providers you can connect

Almost any email service that offers IMAP works. The most common ones have ready-made setup guides:

Outlook.com, Hotmail, and Microsoft 365 work a little differently from the rest: Microsoft no longer allows password or app-password access, so those accounts connect with a single Sign in with Microsoft step instead. TrekMail never sees your Microsoft password, and you can revoke access any time from your Microsoft account. See Add your Outlook.com account for the walkthrough.

A quick word on app passwords

Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and iCloud don't let other apps sign in with your normal password anymore. Instead, they give you a special one-off password — an app password — that only works for mail and can be revoked any time without changing your real password. It sounds technical, but generating one takes under a minute, and each provider's guide above walks you through it with the exact link to click. Accounts at a regular web host usually just use their normal mailbox password.

How to connect one

  1. Open TrekMail webmail and click your profile picture in the top-right corner, then Settings.
  2. Choose Connected accounts and click Connect an account.
  3. Type the email address. TrekMail recognizes common providers and fills in the server settings for you.
  4. Enter the password (or app password), click Test connection, and once it passes, Save.

The account then appears in your sidebar under Connected accounts. Click it to browse that mailbox, or turn on All inboxes to see everything — your own mail and every connected account — merged into one date-sorted list.

Connecting the inbox makes its own address available in From automatically. If it also receives forwarded mail for one of your business addresses, add that business address separately under Settings → Sending addresses.

How many can I add?

It depends on your plan: Starter includes 5 connected accounts per mailbox, Pro includes 10, and Agency includes 30. The free Nano plan doesn't include connected accounts. You can see your current usage on the Connected accounts screen, and remove an account any time to free up a slot — removing it only disconnects it from TrekMail and never touches the mail at the original provider.

If something looks off

If an account shows a small amber dot or asks you to reconnect, its password usually expired or was revoked — head to Fixing connected account problems for the quick fixes. Still stuck? Open a support ticket and we'll help.
