Add a Yahoo or AOL Account to TrekMail

Create an app password

For Yahoo:

1. Go to Yahoo Account Security and sign in.
2. Click Generate app password (or "Manage app passwords").
3. Enter a name like TrekMail, click Generate, and copy the password Yahoo shows.

For AOL: open AOL Account Security and follow the same "Generate app password" flow — the screens look nearly the same.

Both providers show the password only once, so copy it before closing the page. You can revoke it later from the same screen without changing your main password.

Add it in TrekMail

1. In TrekMail webmail, click your profile picture (top-right) → Settings → Connected accounts.
2. Click Connect an account and type your full Yahoo or AOL address. TrekMail recognizes the provider and fills in the server settings.
3. Paste the app password you just created.
4. Click Test connection, and when it passes, Save.

The account then shows up in your sidebar under Connected accounts, and you can include it in the combined All inboxes view.

A note on sending

When you reply to or send from your Yahoo or AOL account in TrekMail, the message goes out through their servers using your app password, so it arrives from your real address and lands in that account's Sent folder. Because Yahoo and AOL enforce strict anti-spoofing rules, sending "as" these addresses only works properly through their own servers — which is exactly what a connected account does.

If it won't connect

The usual cause is using your normal password instead of the app password, or a typo when pasting it. Generate a fresh app password and try once more. If you recently changed your Yahoo or AOL password, any old app passwords stop working, so you'll need a new one. More help is in Fixing connected account problems.
