Add Your Gmail Account to TrekMail
Want to keep an eye on your Gmail without leaving TrekMail? Connect it once and your Gmail messages show up right next to your TrekMail mail — read them, reply, and send new emails from your Gmail address, all in one place. The whole thing takes about a minute. The one catch: Google needs a special "app password" instead of your normal one, and this guide shows you exactly how to get it.
Step 1 — Turn on 2-Step Verification
Google only offers app passwords once 2-Step Verification is switched on. If you already use it, skip ahead. If not, go to your Google security settings, find 2-Step Verification, and follow the prompts to turn it on (you'll confirm with your phone). This is a one-time step and makes your account safer overall.
Step 2 — Create an app password
- Open myaccount.google.com/apppasswords and sign in if asked.
- Give the password a name you'll recognize later —
TrekMailworks well — and click Create. - Google shows a 16-character password in four blocks, like
abcd efgh ijkl mnop. Copy it. You can paste it with or without the spaces — TrekMail handles both.
Google only shows this password once, so grab it now. You can always delete it later from the same page, which instantly disconnects it — handy if you ever stop using TrekMail.
Step 3 — Add it in TrekMail
- In TrekMail webmail, click your profile picture (top-right) → Settings → Connected accounts.
- Click Connect an account and type your Gmail address. TrekMail recognizes Gmail and fills in Google's server settings automatically.
- In the password field, paste the app password from Step 2 — not your normal Google password.
- Click Test connection. When it turns green, click Save.
Your Gmail now appears in the sidebar under Connected accounts. Click it to read your Gmail, or switch on All inboxes to blend it with your other mail.
Sending from Gmail
When you reply to a Gmail message or start a new one while viewing your Gmail, TrekMail sends it through Google using your app password — so recipients see your real Gmail address, and Gmail keeps its own copy in Sent. You don't have to configure anything extra; it just works once the account is connected.
If this Gmail inbox receives forwarded mail for a business address, such as brian@yourcompany.com, you can make replies show that business address instead. Open Settings → Sending addresses, click Add a From address, and link the approved business address to this Gmail inbox. You can send through the business domain's current route or choose another saved sending service.

If the test fails
Almost every failed Gmail connection comes down to the password. Make sure you pasted the app password, not your normal Google login, and that 2-Step Verification is actually on (app passwords silently stop working without it).
