Set up TrekMail in Apple Mail

The recommended setup uses a small Apple configuration profile. It installs the incoming and outgoing servers together, with the correct ports and account association, so there is no server guessing or Keychain cleanup.

Before you start

  • Have your full mailbox address ready — for example you@yourdomain.com.
  • Use the mailbox password, not the password for your TrekMail dashboard account.
  • If the same address is already present as a broken account in Apple Mail, remove that account first. Do not delete unrelated Keychain entries or other mail accounts.

Recommended: install the Apple Mail profile

  1. Open Apps & devices for this mailbox. In the dashboard, open Mailboxes, select the mailbox, then choose the tab. In webmail, open settings and choose Apps & devices directly above Connected accounts.
  2. Choose Apple Mail, then Download configuration. A .mobileconfig file downloads.
  3. Mac: open System Settings → General → Device Management. iPhone/iPad: open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management.
  4. Under Downloaded, open the TrekMail profile, review its settings, and click Install.
  5. Enter the mailbox password when macOS asks. The same password is used for both incoming and outgoing mail.
  6. Open Mail. The account should appear with its Inbox and an assigned TrekMail outgoing server.

The downloaded profile contains the mailbox address and server settings only. It never contains or downloads your mailbox password.

Manual settings

If profiles are blocked by your administrator, add an Other Mail Account and use these exact values. Your full email address must be the username on both servers.

If receiving or sending is still offline

  1. In Mail, choose Mail → Settings → Accounts, select the TrekMail account, and confirm the account is enabled.
  2. Open Server Settings. Confirm the incoming and outgoing usernames are the complete email address.
  3. Confirm Outgoing Mail Account is the TrekMail SMTP server. An SMTP server that exists in the list but is not assigned to the account cannot send mail.
  4. If you entered the settings manually, turn off Automatically manage connection settings for both servers and recheck ports 993 and 465.
  5. Choose Window → Connection Doctor. It reports incoming and outgoing connections separately, which identifies the side that still needs attention.

Do not repeatedly delete Keychain items. A downloaded TrekMail profile can be removed cleanly from System Settings → General → Device Management; removing that profile also removes only the mail account it created.
