This is the FAQ companion to the Referral Program Overview. It covers the practical questions that come up when sharing your link, waiting for rewards to appear, and handling edge cases.

If your question is about the affiliate program, which is a commission-based partnership for resellers and content creators, see What Is the Affiliate Program?. The referral program is the account-level reward for sharing a personal referral link.

Eligibility and access

Do I need a paid plan to refer others?

You do not need to apply for a referral link. Find it in the Referrals card on your account Dashboard. The card is available to the account owner or another member with the relevant account and billing access.

Where do I find my referral link?

Open the Dashboard and find the Referrals card. Your unique link has the format trekmail.net/r/your-code and copies with one click. Use that same link when you share again.

Is there a limit on how many people I can refer?

The current referral flow has no per-link usage limit. Normal program and anti-abuse rules still apply, so only share with people who may genuinely use TrekMail.

Rewards

What do I get for a successful referral?

One free-month reward after confirmation.

  • A qualifying paid activation creates a pending reward.
  • The reward is confirmed after a 14-day confirmation period.
  • The Dashboard then records one free-month reward.
  • For an eligible active paid Stripe subscription, the reward is a balance credit equal to one month of the current plan. It is not a promised calendar-month extension or a free-plan upgrade.

What's the 10% lifetime discount?

When you reach 10 confirmed referrals, the Dashboard shows a 10% referral discount. Billing applies it only where the active subscription and payment setup are eligible. Check the next invoice or Billing amount rather than assuming how it interacts with another offer.

The referral program has a single 10% milestone. It does not create additional discount tiers after 10 referrals.

Can I get cash instead?

No. Referral rewards are account rewards and discounts, not cash payments.

For commission-based promotion, see What Is the Affiliate Program?. It has separate eligibility, tracking, and payout rules.

Qualification

What counts as a "successful referral"?

The referred person must create a new account through your link and complete a qualifying paid activation. The reward is then pending for 14 days before confirmation. A signup alone is not enough.

What's the minimum plan my invitee must pick?

An eligible paid activation is required. Creating a free account does not trigger a confirmed reward.

When does my reward appear?

The reward is pending after the qualifying paid event and has a 14-day confirmation period. Check the Dashboard after that period. If a confirmed referral or expected account credit is still missing, contact support without asking the other person for their private account details.

Can I refer an existing TrekMail user?

No. Referrals apply to new account signups. An existing TrekMail account cannot be attributed by opening your referral link.

Can my invitee be on another payment provider?

The referral must result in a new TrekMail account and qualifying paid activation. Another provider is outside the referral check; what matters is whether this is a new TrekMail account created through your link.

Tracking troubleshooting

I shared my link but the referral didn't track

Run through this list:

  • Confirm the full link: it should use trekmail.net/r/your-code. Do not change the code at the end.
  • Use the same browser: the person should open the link and create the new account in that browser within 30 days.
  • Keep browser cookies: clearing cookies, private-browser restrictions, or a browser change can remove the referral connection.
  • Open the original link: ask the person to open the copied link before signup instead of relying on a manually retyped address.

Can I use a shortened link?

Use the original trekmail.net/r/your-code link where possible. A short link must preserve the complete destination, but TrekMail cannot verify how an external shortener or social app changes a link. Test it in a browser before sharing widely.

My invitee signed up on TrekMail's branded subdomain (app.somebrand.com) instead of trekmail.net

Referrals begin on trekmail.net, even if you use White Label Lite. Your invitee should open trekmail.net/r/your-code before they create the new account. Going directly to a branded host does not set the referral connection.

If you have White Label Lite and want to refer someone, send them to trekmail.net/r/your-code specifically.

I see a "Pending" referral that's been pending for weeks

A pending reward means a qualifying paid event was recorded and the 14-day confirmation period has not finished. The Dashboard card shows confirmed counts and reward progress, not a detailed roster of referred people.

If more than 14 days have passed and the referral still does not appear as confirmed, contact support with the date of the paid activation. Do not include the other person's password, payment details, or private account information.

Edge cases

Can I refer someone, then unrefer them and refer again for a different account?

No. Referral attribution is recorded when the new account is created and cannot be changed from the Dashboard. Do not try to create replacement accounts to change attribution.

What happens if my invitee gets a refund?

The program can reject or revoke an ineligible pending reward. If the paid activation changes or you think a reward was handled incorrectly, contact support instead of trying to create another referral for the same person.

Can multiple referrals stack?

Each confirmed referral adds one free-month reward, and the count can grow beyond 10. At 10 confirmed referrals, the Dashboard also shows the single 10% referral milestone. For an eligible active paid Stripe subscription, each usable free-month reward is applied as a one-month-value balance credit rather than a calendar extension.

Can I refer myself with a different email?

No. A referral cannot use the same account owner or owner email as the referrer. TrekMail can reject self-referrals and duplicate accounts created to claim rewards.

What if my invitee uses a free trial first and then converts?

The trial itself does not create a confirmed reward. A qualifying paid activation can create a pending reward, which is then confirmed after 14 days.

Program changes

Can the program rules change?

The program configuration can change. Check the current Dashboard information and public documentation before making a promotion promise. Do not promise a reward amount or outcome that is not shown in the current program terms.

Can my lifetime discount be revoked?

The 10% milestone appears after 10 confirmed referrals. Its billing effect depends on an eligible active subscription and payment setup. If the Dashboard shows the milestone but the expected Billing amount does not reflect it, contact support before the next renewal.
