Manage saved payment methods from the Billing page. TrekMail sends payment details to Stripe's secure form; the Dashboard displays only the saved card reference, such as its brand, last four digits, and expiry.
This guide walks you through everything the Billing page lets you do with payment methods, what the buttons mean, what's available beyond plain cards, and what to expect when something goes wrong.
What you can save as your default payment method
The Billing page currently manages saved cards for recurring billing. Available payment options during a particular checkout can vary, but do not assume that a wallet shown in a one-time checkout can be saved as a renewal method.
- Credit and debit cards supported by Stripe.
The Billing page lists one default card and any other saved cards. The default card is the one used for a recurring card charge.
Recurring charges use the default saved card. Update it before the next renewal if the card has expired or been replaced.
One-time checkout methods
A checkout for a one-time purchase can show payment methods that are not part of the saved-card list. The exact options come from Stripe and depend on the purchase, region, and device.
Use the options displayed in that checkout. For a renewable plan or add-on, keep a working default card in Billing.
Where to find your saved methods
Open the Billing page. Saved methods live in the left column under the Default payment method card. Your active card shows up first with a green "Default" badge, its brand, last four digits, and expiry. Below that, Other cards lists cards you have added but not made the default.
If you have not added a card, select Add payment method. The Billing page lists the default card separately from Other cards.
Adding a payment method
Click Add payment method. Complete the card form Stripe opens, and finish any bank verification it requests.
After saving, return to Billing and check whether the new card is listed. If it should be used for renewals, choose Make default. A bank may show a verification hold; ask the bank if you need help identifying that entry.
Making a card default
Each card under Other cards has a Make default button. Choose it to make that card the default for future recurring card charges. If the change fails, refresh Billing and try again, then contact support if it remains unavailable.
Only one card can be the default. Other saved cards are not automatically charged as a fallback.
Removing a card
Choose Remove on a secondary card and confirm the action. Replace a card before removing it if the old card is used for an upcoming renewal.
A few rules we apply to keep your subscription alive:
- You cannot remove the default card directly. Make another card default first.
- Keep at least one suitable card while the account has a recurring subscription.
If removal fails, check whether the card is needed by an active subscription or payment. Contact Support if the card cannot be removed after you have supplied another default card.
When a card expires
An expired card can remain visible in Billing with an Expired label, but it cannot be used for a future charge.
Add a replacement card and make it default before the next renewal. If a renewal has already failed, use the invoice's Pay action or follow Fixing Failed Payments.
Do not assume a bank will automatically update the saved expiry date. Check Billing after receiving a replacement card.
When a renewal fails
If a charge against the default card fails, Billing displays a payment-failed status and the affected invoice.
Add a replacement card if needed, make it default, then use Pay for an immediate attempt or wait for a future Stripe retry. Full grace and recovery rules are in Fixing Failed Payments.
Security and PCI scope
TrekMail uses Stripe's payment form for card details. Billing shows a limited card reference, such as brand, last four digits, and expiry, rather than the full card number or CVC.
For a question about a card entry or a bank authorisation, contact the bank or Stripe-supported payment flow first; do not send card details in a support ticket.
Changing currency
The subscription currency is separate from the card's issuing country. Review the currency in the checkout or Billing summary before paying. For a billing-period or plan change, follow Paying by Card (Stripe) and the plan controls shown in the Dashboard.
Common questions
Why is there an unfamiliar small card entry? A bank can show a temporary verification authorisation. Check the merchant, date, and amount with the bank before reporting fraud.
Can I split one invoice across several cards? No. Choose one card for an invoice.
Which payment methods can I use? Use the methods shown in the relevant checkout or Billing page. Crypto is covered in Paying with Crypto.
Can I save a wallet for subscription renewals? Billing currently manages cards as saved recurring payment methods. Use the current checkout summary for one-time options.
How do add-ons renew? Check the add-on's Billing section and keep a working default card for its recurring charge.
Can I see charge history? Open Invoices and Billing History to see the documents or payment links currently available for each entry.
