TrekMail webmail keeps mailbox controls and personal interface preferences in one responsive Settings panel. The available sections can vary when you are viewing your own mailbox, a shared mailbox, or a connected external account.
Open Settings
Click your avatar or account menu and choose Settings. On mobile, Settings first opens a full-screen list; tap a section to open its panel and use the back arrow to return to the list.
Depending on the mailbox context and enabled features, the sections include:
- Profile
- Folders
- Forwarding
- Filters
- Auto-Reply
- Identities
- Apps & devices
- Connected accounts
- Templates
- Security
- Blocked senders
- Sieve
- Language
Settings that belong to a shared mailbox are marked with that mailbox's address. Personal interface preferences continue to belong to the signed-in user.
Profile and appearance
Open Settings → Profile to manage the settings shown for your current context. The tab is in two halves, and the divider says which is which.
Belonging to the mailbox that is open — change them while a shared mailbox is selected and you are changing that mailbox, not your own:
- Display name and trusted senders
- Default Cc and Bcc recipients
- A quick signature editor for the default sending address
Belonging to you, and following you into every mailbox you open:
- Gravatar controls for your personal mailbox
- Light or dark theme
- Whether external images always load
- Sender photos
- Reading pane on the right, below the list, or off
- Desktop browser notifications
- Conversation view
- Default read-receipt request
A Default Bcc is added to messages sent from that mailbox by anything: what you write here, and what an app or agent sends through the API on its behalf. When you write in the web app it appears in the Bcc line, where you can take it out before sending. Mail sent from a desktop or phone mail client goes straight to the mail server and never passes through this setting.
Members with read-only access to a shared mailbox do not see the Default Cc/Bcc fields or the signature editor for it, because they cannot send from it.
Light and dark theme
Use Settings → Profile → Theme, or the theme action at the bottom of the desktop sidebar. The choice is stored in that browser. There is currently no automatic “follow system theme” mode.
White Label webmail uses the same light and dark layouts while applying the provider's configured logo, name, and accent colour to the browser interface.
Browser notifications
Turn on Desktop notifications under Settings → Profile and allow the permission request from your browser. Notifications are generated while webmail is open and checking for new mail or calendar reminders. They are not background push notifications, so a closed browser or suspended PWA will not receive new-mail alerts from this setting.
Notification permission and the on/off choice are browser-specific. If the toggle is on but nothing appears, check the site's notification permission in the browser or operating-system settings.
Display language
Open Settings → Language and choose one of the 13 available languages:
| Language | Direction |
|---|---|
| English | Left to right |
| Spanish | Left to right |
| French | Left to right |
| German | Left to right |
| Portuguese | Left to right |
| Italian | Left to right |
| Dutch | Left to right |
| Russian | Left to right |
| Chinese (Simplified) | Left to right |
| Japanese | Left to right |
| Korean | Left to right |
| Arabic | Right to left |
| Hebrew | Right to left |
The interface reloads in the chosen language. Arabic and Hebrew automatically switch webmail to a right-to-left layout. The webmail language is stored for the mailbox and is separate from the account dashboard's language.
Sending addresses and reply behaviour
Open Settings → Sending addresses to:
- Edit the display name, Reply-To, and signature for the primary address or an active send-enabled alias
- Link an approved business From address to Gmail, Outlook, or another connected inbox
- Choose the domain route or a saved SMTP service for that extra From address
- Choose the default address for new messages
- Decide whether replies use the address that received the message or the default address
Main and alias addresses are managed automatically from the mailbox and its authorized aliases. Extra From addresses can be added only after their business address and connected inbox are approved. See Sending Addresses, Signatures, and Templates.
Security
Open Settings → Security for mailbox security controls, including password changes, recovery email, and two-factor authentication when available.
Enable two-factor authentication
- Open Settings → Security.
- Select Enable 2FA.
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, or enter the displayed secret manually.
- Enter the current six-digit code to confirm.
- Copy the recovery codes and store them outside this mailbox.
Each recovery code is for emergency access when the authenticator is unavailable. To disable 2FA later, the Security panel requires a current six-digit authenticator code.
For more detail, see Two-Factor Authentication.
Keyboard shortcuts
Single-key shortcuts run only when you are not typing in an input, textarea, selector, or rich-text editor. They do not replace normal browser Ctrl/Cmd shortcuts.
