When you share your TrekMail referral link, it helps to know what the other person experiences, from opening the link to the point when a reward can be confirmed.
Step 1: They click your link
Your referral link looks like trekmail.net/r/your-code. When someone opens it, two things happen:
- They are redirected to the TrekMail home page.
- Their browser stores the referral connection for up to 30 days.
Note: Even if you use White Label Lite, the referral link uses
trekmail.net/r/your-code. Referrals are recorded for TrekMail accounts, not a branded mailbox customer.
The 30-day window means they do not have to sign up immediately. The referral is available when they create a new account within that period in the same browser.
Note: If the person clears browser cookies, changes browser or device, or waits longer than 30 days, the referral connection may be lost. Ask them to open your original link again before creating the account.
Step 2: They create an account
The signup process is the same for referred users as for anyone else:
- They create a TrekMail account using one of the available sign-in methods.
- They complete the required email and account-verification steps.
- They can continue through the setup wizard to add a domain, set DNS records, and create a mailbox.
There is no special referred-user screen or badge. The experience is the same as a normal signup.
Step 3: They complete the qualifying action
A referral becomes eligible only when the referred user completes a qualifying action. Signing up on its own does not create a confirmed reward.
The qualifying action is a successful paid activation. New accounts start on the free plan, so simply creating an account does not qualify the referral.
After the paid event, the system records a pending reward. It has a 14-day confirmation period before it counts toward the referrer's rewards and 10% milestone.
The referrer does not need to submit a claim. They should check their Dashboard after the confirmation period.
Step 4: Your reward is credited
After confirmation, TrekMail records one free-month reward for the referrer. For an eligible active paid Stripe subscription, this is applied as account-balance credit equal to one month of the current plan.
If this referral brings the confirmed total to 10, the Dashboard shows the 10% referral discount. It applies only where the active subscription and payment setup are eligible, so check Billing before assuming an amount.
TrekMail may send a notification, but the Dashboard and Billing details are the place to verify a reward or credit.
What the referred user gets
Referred users do not receive a special discount or bonus just for signing up through your link. The referral program rewards the person who refers, not the new account. This keeps the offer clear during signup.
Tracking referred users
In the Referrals card on the Dashboard, you can see:
- Your confirmed referral count.
- Free-month rewards shown for the account.
- Your referral discount and progress toward the milestone.
- Your personal referral link.
The card does not list the names, email addresses, or click-by-click activity of the people who used your link.
Common questions about referred user experience
What if they already have a TrekMail account? Referrals apply to new account signups. An existing account is not attributed by opening a referral link.
What if they sign up on mobile but upgrade on desktop? Use the same browser that opened the referral link, within 30 days, to create the new account. Once the account is created with that referral connection, it can later complete the qualifying paid activation through its normal account flow.
Can I refer myself or someone in my household? Do not refer yourself or create duplicate accounts to claim a reward. The system blocks the same account owner and can reject ineligible or abusive referrals. See the referral program overview for the program rules.
