You can connect an @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com address to TrekMail and read and send from it next to your other mail. Apple uses an app-specific password for this connection instead of your normal Apple Account password.
Before you start
Your Apple Account needs two-factor authentication before Apple will let you create an app-specific password. If it is not already on, enable it in your iPhone or Mac settings under your name, then Sign-In & Security.
Create an app-specific password
- Sign in at account.apple.com.
- Open Sign-In & Security, then choose App-Specific Passwords.
- Select the plus button or Generate an app-specific password, name it
TrekMail, and confirm. - Apple shows a password such as
abcd-efgh-ijkl-mnop. Copy it exactly, including the dashes.
Apple shows this password once. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one. Revoking it immediately stops anything using the old password.
Add it in TrekMail
- In TrekMail webmail, select your profile picture, then Settings → Connected accounts.
- Select Connect an account and enter your iCloud address. TrekMail fills in Apple's mail servers.
- Paste the app-specific password.
- Select Test connection, then Save when it passes.
Your iCloud mail appears in the sidebar under Connected accounts, ready to read, reply, and include in All inboxes.
If it will not connect
Check that you used an app-specific password, not your normal Apple Account password, and that two-factor authentication is still enabled. Apple revokes all app-specific passwords when you change or reset your main Apple Account password. If that happened, create a new app-specific password and update the connection in TrekMail. If you use a custom domain hosted on iCloud, use the full custom address as the username. See Fixing connected account problems if you still need help.
