Connect TrekMail to any email app

Apps & devices gives you the correct guided setup for Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and any standard IMAP app. You can keep the app you already know without guessing server settings.

Before you connect

Have the full mailbox address and its mailbox password ready. The mailbox password may be different from the password used to sign in to the TrekMail dashboard.

Receiving and sending must both be ready. Email apps commonly test both servers at once. If TrekMail says sending is not ready, configure a custom SMTP provider or activate managed SMTP first, then return to Apps & devices. TrekMail does not show an incomplete setup as usable.

Where to find Apps & devices

  1. Dashboard: open Mailboxes, select the mailbox, then choose Apps & devices in its settings.
  2. Webmail: click the settings gear, then choose Apps & devices directly above Connected accounts.
  3. Setup wizard: after creating a mailbox, choose an app from the final step when sending is ready.
Apps & devices Puts this TrekMail mailbox into another email app.
Connected accounts Brings a Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, or other external mailbox into TrekMail webmail.

Choose the app you use

Gmail app: choose Other, then Personal (IMAP) when offered. The TrekMail mailbox appears beside your Google accounts.

Outlook: enter the mailbox address, then choose IMAP or Advanced setup if Outlook cannot complete discovery.

Apple Mail: download the secure Apple configuration profile to install the incoming and outgoing account settings together.

Thunderbird: choose manual configuration, enter the displayed IMAP and SMTP values, then re-test the account.

Other app: use this option for Samsung Email, Spark, eM Client, or any app that supports IMAP and SMTP.

For Gmail, Outlook, Thunderbird, and other apps, choose Copy server settings. You can also expand Show manual server settings to read each value on screen.

Apple Mail profile

  1. On the Apple device you want to connect, select Apple Mail and download the configuration.
  2. Mac: open System Settings → General → Device Management. iPhone/iPad: open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management.
  3. Select the downloaded TrekMail profile, approve Install, then enter the mailbox password when Apple Mail asks.

The file contains the mailbox address and secure server settings only. It never contains your password. If your organization blocks profiles, use the manual settings in the same screen.

Port 587 with STARTTLS is also available. If the domain uses a custom provider, the email app still connects to smtp.trekmail.net; TrekMail applies the private route behind it.

If the app cannot connect

  1. Use the complete email address as the username on both servers.
  2. Use the mailbox password, not the dashboard password.
  3. Return to Apps & devices and confirm that sending is ready.
  4. Confirm SSL/TLS and the displayed ports are selected.
  5. Remove only the failed TrekMail account or profile before retrying. Do not delete unrelated saved passwords or other email accounts.
