This article collects the questions that don't fit cleanly into the setup, cancellation, pricing, or DNS-troubleshooting articles. If you can't find your answer here, open a support ticket.

Billing & Pricing

Can I get a custom price for my volume? Self-serve is $39/month or $389/year flat. If you're running at significant scale (dozens of TrekMail accounts, large multi-brand deployments, or enterprise email volumes), contact sales — we can talk about custom pricing.

Do I have to pay for both White Label Lite and a mail plan? Yes. White Label Lite is an add-on on top of your mail plan, not a replacement for it. Your $39/month covers the brand layer; your mail plan ($X/month) covers the underlying email infrastructure.

Is there a discount if I commit to a multi-year contract? Yearly is the longest period available through self-serve. For multi-year commitments, contact sales.

Why is yearly only 17% off, not 20% like the mail plan? Different add-on, different math. The 17% discount on White Label Lite happens to work out to roughly two months free per year. The Drive Storage add-on uses the same 17%.

Activation & DNS

Can I activate White Label Lite without a custom domain? Yes — you can activate first, then set up your domain later. Until you save a custom domain on the settings page, the add-on is paid for but your dashboard still serves from trekmail.net. This is fine if you want to lock in pricing or set up branding first, domain second.

My DNS provider doesn't support CNAME at the apex. That's normal — apex CNAMEs aren't part of the DNS spec. Use a subdomain (app.yourbrand.com) instead. We don't support apex domains for White Label Lite anyway, partly for this reason.

Can I use a subdomain of a subdomain (app.email.yourbrand.com)? Yes — three-level subdomains work fine. The depth doesn't matter to our DNS validation or Let's Encrypt cert issuance.

Can I use Cloudflare's "Authenticated Origin Pulls" or similar Cloudflare features? Not currently. Our Let's Encrypt issuance assumes a direct connection to our origin. Authenticated origin pulls, Cloudflare's enterprise SSL settings, and other advanced Cloudflare features can interfere. Use Cloudflare DNS-only mode (grey cloud) for the WL CNAME.

What's the maximum length of a custom domain? 253 characters total (DNS limit), 63 characters per label. Anything reasonable that fits "your sensible subdomain prefix + your apex" works.

Referrals and affiliates

Do referral links work from my branded domain? Referral links always use trekmail.net/r/your-code, not your branded domain. The referral system runs at the TrekMail platform layer — it tracks signups to TrekMail proper, not signups to a specific reseller. Your branded domain serves your customers; new TrekMail account signups happen at trekmail.net.

Can I earn referrals on my own customers? No — referrals reward new TrekMail account signups. Your customers (the people you onboarded under your White Label) aren't TrekMail signups; they're mailbox users on your account. Referrals would apply if you refer someone who creates their own new TrekMail account.

Are my customers eligible for referral rewards? Only if they create their own separate TrekMail account through your referral link. Mailbox-level users on your account aren't.

Custom email addresses

Can my transactional emails come from noreply@yourbrand.com instead of noreply@trekmail.net? Yes. Set Transactional sender in the White Label settings page. It takes any email on a domain you've already verified on TrekMail. We sign outgoing mail with that domain's DKIM key (the one you already provisioned for your mailboxes), SPF stays aligned, deliverability is unchanged. Leave it blank to use TrekMail's default sender.

Can I customize the reply-to address? Yes — set Support email on your White Label settings page. Every transactional email then has a Reply-To header pointing at that address.

Can I customize the email body content? Not currently. The transactional email templates (password reset, mailbox invite, etc.) use a fixed structure with your branding swapped in. You can't change the wording or add custom blocks.

Multi-account / agency questions

Can I manage multiple branded TrekMail accounts from one place? Not yet — each TrekMail account is administered separately. We're working on an agency-tier feature that adds multi-account administration for resellers, but it's not part of Lite today.

Can I bill multiple of my customers through one TrekMail account, each with their own brand? No — one TrekMail account, one brand. If you have multiple distinct brands to serve, you need multiple TrekMail accounts.

Can I have a "parent" TrekMail account that manages multiple "child" accounts? Not under Lite. If you're at scale where you need this, contact sales.

Security & compliance

Does White Label Lite affect my data security or privacy? No. The brand layer is purely visual — same infrastructure, same encryption, same backup policies, same compliance posture as TrekMail proper. The SSL certificate is issued in your domain's name, so the encryption-in-transit chain is unchanged from your customers' perspective.

Where is my data hosted? Same as the rest of TrekMail — see Privacy and data retention for the data residency and processing details.

Can I have a separate Data Processing Agreement (DPA) under my brand? Your customers' relationship is with you, not with TrekMail. You can offer your customers your own DPA. TrekMail is a sub-processor underneath. If your customer needs to know about us, the relationship structure is: customer ↔ you ↔ TrekMail.

My customer is asking about SOC 2 / ISO 27001. TrekMail's compliance certifications apply to the underlying infrastructure. You can reference them in your own customer-facing materials with appropriate attribution. We don't have white-labeled compliance certificates.

Account closure / off-boarding

If I close my TrekMail account, what happens to my customers? The account closure cancels everything: mail plan, add-ons (including White Label Lite), all mailboxes. Your customers lose access to their email. Plan ahead — migrate them to another email provider or notify them in advance.

Can I export my customer list before closing the account? Yes — mailbox lists, domain lists, and aggregate usage data can be exported. See Exporting domains and mailboxes data.

Can I transfer ownership of the TrekMail account? Not through self-serve. Contact support — we handle ownership transfers case-by-case.

Reseller / commercial questions

Can I resell TrekMail under my brand? Yes — that's what White Label Lite enables. You're free to bill your customers for the service at any markup you like.

Are there any restrictions on the kinds of customers I can serve? All customers must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy. You're responsible for ensuring your customers' use is compliant. We may terminate accounts for AUP violations.

Can I create a marketing landing page on my custom domain? No — your branded domain serves the dashboard and webmail, not a marketing site. Set up your marketing pages on a separate subdomain (www.yourbrand.com, marketing.yourbrand.com) or your apex.

Can I add tracking pixels or analytics to my branded pages? Not currently. The dashboard doesn't support custom HTML or JavaScript injection. Your own marketing pages (separate from the dashboard) can have whatever tracking you want.

Other / edge cases

Does White Label Lite support IPv6? Yes — our infrastructure serves both IPv4 and IPv6. Your CNAME → trekmail.net resolves to both address families, so your customers on IPv6 networks reach us natively.

Does the branded domain pass an HSTS test? Yes — we enable HSTS on the branded domain after the first successful HTTPS request. If you want HSTS preload for the apex of your domain, that's separate (HSTS preload is a domain-wide setting you'd manage through your DNS).

My customer reports a broken link on my branded dashboard. Where do I report it? Open a support ticket. Include the URL and what they expected to happen.

Can I A/B test brand colors with my customer base? Not currently — there's one brand identity per account, applied to all customers.

The branded URL is showing the TrekMail login screen instead of my brand. Most likely your status is still "pending DNS" or "cert pending." Check the White Label settings page. If status is "active" but the wrong page renders, clear your browser cache or open in incognito.
