On paid plans (Starter, Pro, Agency), TrekMail handles the technical heavy lifting of email delivery for you. We manage the IP reputation, warm-up, and feedback loops so you don't have to.
Who this is for
- Users on Starter, Pro, or Agency plans.
- Anyone who doesn't want to pay for a separate SMTP service like Mailgun or SendGrid.
How it works
When you send an email (via Webmail or Outlook), it goes through our high-reputation server cluster.
Tip: Unsure which SMTP mode to choose? Click the "Guide" button on the SMTP Settings page for an interactive walkthrough of the differences between Platform and Custom SMTP.
- Zero Setup: No API keys or external accounts needed.
- Reputation Management: We monitor your bounce rates and pause sending if things look risky, protecting your domain from blacklists.
- Authentication: We sign your mail with the DKIM keys you set up during domain verification.
Connection Details
When setting up your email client (Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.), use these specific settings for Managed SMTP:
- Server Host:
smtp.trekmail.net - Port:
465(SSL/TLS) or587(STARTTLS) - Username: Your full mailbox address (
you@yourdomain.com) - Password: Your mailbox password
Eligibility
- Nano Plan: Not available. You must use Custom SMTP (BYO).
- Paid Plans: Included automatically. Limits vary by plan tier.
Deliverability Benefits
Using Managed SMTP ensures the best email deliverability:
- DKIM Alignment: Emails are signed with your domain's DKIM key, ensuring they pass DMARC authentication even when forwarded through mailing lists or relays.
- SPF Alignment: Our servers are included in your SPF record, so recipients see proper authentication.
- Consistent Reputation: Our shared IP pool is carefully monitored and maintained.
Why this matters: If you send from a third-party service that doesn't sign with your DKIM key, your emails may fail DMARC checks. TrekMail's Managed SMTP guarantees your emails are properly authenticated.
Common mistakes
- Symptom: "Authentication Failed" on port 465.
- Fix: Ensure you are using the mailbox password, not the account password.
- Symptom: "Sending Paused".
- Cause: You exceeded your daily limit or had a high bounce rate. Check the Overview page for alerts.
