Canceling White Label Lite doesn't immediately strip your brand. The subscription stays active until the end of your current billing cycle, so your customers don't see anything change overnight. After that, there's a 7-day grace window where you can reactivate without losing your setup. Only after the grace window does the SSL certificate get deprovisioned and the branded domain stop serving.
This guide covers how cancellation works, the timing of when your brand actually goes away, and what to do if you want to come back.
How to cancel
Open the Billing page and scroll to the White Label Lite card. Click Cancel White Label.
A confirmation dialog opens with the following information:
- The date your current billing cycle ends (when cancellation takes effect)
- The date your branded domain stops serving (7 days after that)
- Your current usage info — domain, brand name, status
Read the preview. Click Confirm cancellation.
The add-on is now in canceled (pending) status:
- "Canceled — ends [date]"
- Your full branding stays active until that date
- A Reactivate button replaces the Cancel button
You're not charged anything more. The current cycle is paid for and Stripe doesn't bill you again at the renewal date.
What happens at the end of the cycle
When your billing cycle ends, the cancellation takes effect:
- The add-on's Stripe subscription is canceled
- Your BrandProfile enters the 7-day grace window — the brand stays visible to customers, the domain still serves, the SSL certificate is still valid
- The Billing page shows "Brand grace ends [date — 7 days out]"
Your customers see no change during these 7 days. The branded URL keeps working, your logo and colors still render, transactional emails still go out from your brand. We treat the grace window as "you might change your mind, so we don't tear anything down yet."
The 7-day grace window
For 7 days after cancellation takes effect, you can:
- Reactivate — click the Reactivate button on Billing. The same brand profile resumes. Your domain, logo, colors, and Support email all come back exactly as you set them. You're charged for the new cycle at the current rate. No DNS reconfiguration needed.
- Subscribe to a different period — if you canceled monthly and want to come back yearly (or vice versa), the standard activate flow works. Your brand identity carries over.
- Do nothing — at the end of the 7 days, automatic cleanup runs.
The grace window is the same regardless of whether you were on monthly or yearly billing. It's a fixed 7-day window measured from the cycle end.
After the grace window
If 7 days pass without reactivation:
- The SSL certificate for your domain is deprovisioned (Let's Encrypt revocation)
- The nginx vhost on our side is removed
- Your branded URL stops resolving (visitors get a generic SSL or "site not found" error from their browser)
- The TrekMail dashboard at
trekmail.net/app/...continues to work for you as the account owner
Your customers, if they were using your branded URL, would now see a broken link. If you direct them to trekmail.net URLs, those still work — your account underneath is unaffected by the add-on cancellation.
The BrandProfile itself is not deleted at this point. It's kept on file indefinitely so that if you reactivate weeks, months, or years later, your logo and color choices come back. If you want the profile fully deleted, contact support.
Reactivating
Reactivating within the 7-day grace window is one click. Open Billing, find the canceled White Label Lite card, click Reactivate. A fresh charge runs at today's price, and your brand is back to "active" within a minute.
Reactivating after the 7-day grace window requires the standard activation flow:
- Go to the Plans page.
- Click Activate White Label on the White Label Lite card.
- The flow restores your previous brand identity from the BrandProfile we kept on file — logo, colors, display name all come back as you left them.
- The CNAME at your DNS provider is still in place, so the domain comes back online automatically after SSL re-issuance.
If your domain stopped resolving for a while, propagation may take 5-30 minutes the first time after reactivation. After that it's fast.
What about my CNAME record?
The CNAME you set at your DNS provider stays untouched whether you cancel or reactivate. We don't have access to your DNS — that's your provider's record, pointing to trekmail.net.
After cancellation and the 7-day grace, the CNAME still resolves to trekmail.net, but our nginx no longer recognizes your custom hostname. Visitors hitting app.yourbrand.com see a generic certificate error or a "not found" response, depending on their browser and how their request is routed.
If you want to clean up your DNS, remove the CNAME at your provider any time after cancellation. If you might reactivate, leave the CNAME in place — it speeds up the reactivation flow.
Refunds
The default policy:
- Mid-cycle cancellation: no refund. You keep the brand live through cycle end.
- Yearly canceled mid-year: no automatic refund. The brand stays live until the year ends.
- Charged in error / duplicate / system bug: full refund, contact support.
If you have unusual circumstances, contact support — we handle these case-by-case. We don't have a default refund policy for "I changed my mind" because the deferred-cancellation pattern means you keep the brand live through end-of-cycle.
What about the Drive Storage discount?
White Label Lite includes 30% off Drive Storage while active. When you cancel:
- The Drive discount remains for the rest of your current Drive billing cycle.
- Your next Drive renewal prices at the standard ladder.
- Your Drive Add-on itself is not affected — only the discount on top of it.
If you reactivate within the 7-day grace, the discount kicks back in at the next Drive renewal too.
Common scenarios
"I want to cancel for a few months and then come back." Cancel, wait through the 7-day grace, let your brand go offline. When you're ready, come back through the Plans page — your brand identity should still be on file. CNAME stays in your DNS the whole time. Costs are equivalent — Stripe doesn't penalize re-subscriptions.
"My company is closing the TrekMail account." When the entire account is closed, the account-level closure cancels all subscriptions automatically — White Label included. The BrandProfile is removed during account deletion. You don't need to cancel the add-on separately.
"I want to keep the brand but move it to a new domain." Don't cancel — just edit the custom domain on the White Label settings page. Update your CNAME, wait for DNS, and the new domain comes online. The brand identity (logo, colors, name) carries over.
"Can I export my brand assets before cancellation?" Yes — download your logo from the settings page before canceling. The color hex codes are also visible there; copy them if you want to keep them outside TrekMail.
"My customers are using my branded URL — what should I tell them?" Before cancellation takes effect, give them the trekmail.net/app/... URL as a backup. After cancellation + grace, the branded URL stops serving. If you reactivate, the branded URL comes back online within minutes.
