HostGator Sells Titan Under Its Own Name

Two resale counters stacked in front of one platform

Before pricing a HostGator email alternative, notice where their Professional Email page lives: hostgator.com/titan. HostGator doesn't make an email product either — it resells Titan, the same platform GoDaddy sells under its own name.

That's the third reseller in this series, and it means the mailbox you're evaluating has limits set by a company you're not buying from.

What a HostGator Email Alternative Is Really Compared With

Titan sells exclusively through partners — GoDaddy, Hostinger, Name.com, HostGator and others — and each partner sets its own pricing. So "HostGator email" is a price card in front of somebody else's platform.

Two practical consequences. Any feature question is really a Titan question, and any price you see quoted for Titan elsewhere is a different partner's number rather than HostGator's.

Credit where it's due on one point: HostGator sells Professional Email as a standalone product, so you don't need web hosting to buy it. That's better than SiteGround, which has no email-only plan at all.

The Trial, and What Follows It

Before pricing a HostGator email alternative against it: there's a one-month free trial, after which Professional Email renews automatically at $2.99 a month.

Two things to plan for. The trial is a month, not a year, so the renewal arrives quickly. And $2.99 is per mailbox, so it's a headcount meter like every reseller in this comparison:

MailboxesHostGator at $2.99Us
3$108/yr$42/yr — Starter
10$359/yr$120/yr — Pro
25$897/yr$279/yr — Agency

An automatic renewal after a one-month trial is worth a diary note if you're only testing.

The Limits That Come From Titan

Because the platform is Titan, its boundaries are yours. Two matter most.

Calendar sharing works between Titan users. A mixed-platform team — some on Titan, some on Workspace or Microsoft 365 — doesn't get shared availability across the whole group.

There's no way to read mailboxes hosted elsewhere. If some of your addresses live at another provider, they stay in a separate window.

What Titan does ship is more than people expect and worth saying plainly: read receipts, scheduled send, templates, follow-up reminders, threading, custom filters and folders, and native mobile apps. Anyone writing a HostGator email alternative that lists those as differentiators hasn't checked — that's covered properly in the Titan comparison.

Why the Reseller Chain Matters

It sounds like a technicality, and it's the quiet argument for a HostGator email alternative the first time something goes wrong.

Your subscription is with HostGator. The platform is Titan's. So a deliverability question, a feature request or a bug report has to travel one company further than it would with a direct supplier, and the person who can refund you is not the person who can fix the mailbox.

The same chain shapes what you can be told about the roadmap. HostGator can't commit to a Titan feature, and Titan doesn't sell to you. For a single mailbox that's abstract. For a business whose mail matters, it's worth knowing before rather than during an incident.

None of this makes Titan a poor product — the Titan comparison is clear that it isn't. It's a reason to prefer a supplier who owns what they sell, all else being equal.

Where a HostGator Email Alternative Changes Shape

Four differences, none of them about the mailbox itself.

Nothing is priced per mailbox. Plans cap counts by tier — up to 1,000 domains at 1,000 mailboxes each on Agency — so role addresses and catch-all routing cost nothing.

One supplier, not a reseller in front of a platform. Support and billing are the same company as the product.

Addresses a team answers. support@ becomes a mailbox people belong to, not a rule that posts the same message to three inboxes. See shared mailboxes.

Mailboxes you don't host. Addresses you've left at Google or Microsoft stay where they are and still open here, over IMAP. See the unified inbox.

Plus DNS applied through a previewed Cloudflare change or one Domain Connect click, bulk provisioning with setup invites, and address verification in the same account.

The Verdict, Whoever You Are

One person, one mailbox, site already at HostGator. $2.99 a month for a competent mailbox with one bill is reasonable, and a HostGator email alternative saves you little at that size.

A team. The meter compounds — ten mailboxes is $359 a year against $120, twenty-five is $897 against $279 — and role addresses each add $35.88. Flat pricing removes the counting and gives shared addresses real membership.

Anyone who wants support and product from one company. A reseller arrangement means a mail problem and a billing problem may not be answerable by the same person. That's a fair thing to weigh.

Mail for several companies. Per-mailbox pricing across client teams, on a platform you resell from a company that resells it too, is a long chain. One account covering 1,000 domains with your own branding is shorter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HostGator email its own product?

No — it's Titan, sold under HostGator's price card. Titan sells only through partners and each sets its own pricing.

How much does it cost?

$2.99 per mailbox a month after a one-month free trial, which renews automatically.

Can I buy it without web hosting?

Yes, it's available as a standalone product — which is more than SiteGround offers.

Is a HostGator email alternative cheaper?

From about two or three mailboxes, yes, and the gap widens with every role address at $35.88 a year.

Does it do read receipts and scheduled send?

Yes — those are Titan features, so any comparison claiming them as a differentiator against HostGator is wrong.

What about shared calendars?

Calendar sharing works between Titan users, so a mixed-platform team won't get shared availability across everyone. CalDAV and CardDAV sync is what makes availability portable.

Will migrating lose anything?

No. Titan speaks standard IMAP, so it's an ordinary mailbox copy reconciled against the source afterwards. See bulk migration.
